Shockwave Poker

Description and Objective

Shockwave Poker Screenshot

Shockwave Poker is a unique version of video poker. The play is "normal" most of the time, but as soon as you obtain a Four of a Kind hand, you enter Shockwave mode. Shockwave mode begins with the next play and lasts for ten plays or until you get another Four of a Kind, whichever happens first. Four of a Kind formed during Shockwave mode is paid at a bonus rate.

The object is to obtain a five-card poker hand that contains a winning combination. Payouts start with a pair of Jacks.

Betting/ Dealing

To start playing the game, you first need to place a bet.

  • Select the number of coins to wager by clicking on the Bet One button. Each time you click Bet One, the wager is increased by one coin. The column of the pay table that corresponds to the chosen number of coins is highlighted.
  • The value of one coin is displayed in the Value field. You can change the coin value with the + and - buttons to either side of the Value field.
  • The total bet value is shown in the Bet field, equal to (Coin Value) x (Number of coins wagered).
  • Click on the Deal button to initiate dealing.
  • To place a maximum bet of 5 coins, use the Bet Max button. Clicking on Bet Max starts dealing immediately.

Once Deal or Bet Max is clicked, five cards are dealt. The Deal control is replaced by a Draw button.

  • Select cards that you wish to keep, or hold (if there are any). Cards are held by clicking on them. A HOLD marker appears over the card when clicked. A second click removes the marker.

Note: Cards that form any winning combination are held automatically.

  • Click Draw to replace the cards you don't want to hold. After being replaced, the cards are checked for any winning hand listed in the pay table.
  • Your win amount is displayed in the Win field. Your win is equal to the selected coin value multiplied by the hand payout from the paytable.

If your winning hand is Four of a Kind, Shockwave mode turns on immediately. If you have a winning poker hand other than Four of a Kind, you can participate in the doubling bonus round.

Doubling Round Rules

If you have a winning poker hand, you can increase your winnings by participating in the doubling bonus round. Your objective is to draw a card of higher value than the Dealer's.

  • Click on the Double button to use your previous hand's winning amount as your bet.
  • If the option is available, you can use the Double Half button to bet half of your winning amount for doubling. The remainder will be deposited to your balance.

The Dealer draws a face-up card and you are dealt 4 face-down cards to select from.

  • Select one of the 4 face-down cards by clicking it.

    a) Should you draw a card of higher value than the Dealer's, your win amount is doubled and you can choose either to double again or collect your winnings. If you draw a card of value equal to the Dealer's, your win amount remains the same but you can choose either to double again or collect your winnings. You are allowed to double up to 5 times.

    b) If you choose a card of lower value than the Dealer's, you lose your original bet and the playoff round is over.

Shockwave Mode

Shockwave mode is initiated by the formation of Four of a Kind. Shockwave mode begins with the next play and lasts for ten plays or until you get another Four of a Kind, whichever happens first. Once Shockwave mode is triggered you cannot change either bet amount or coins value till the Shockwave mode is finished.

During Shockwave mode the counter for games played in this mode is displayed on the screen. Once Shockwave mode ends, the counter disappears.

If you get a "quads" (Four of a Kind hand) during Shockwave mode, you will get your winning paid at a bonus rate!
