You Don't Know Jack. Casino Jack, That Is.

Why is it we love con men in film? Even though these movies feature people we'd want to knock out if we met them in real life, on the silver screen their personality and their way of life is always entertaining.
We loved movies like "Blow" starting Johnny Depp, "The Sting" starring Paul Newman and Robert Redford. Admired the professionalism of George Clooney and Co. in Ocean's 13 and were shocked by the intelligence of Leonardo DiCaprio in "Catch Me If You Can."
For that reason you shouldn't be shocked that a movie on casino con man Jack Abramoff is in the works.

For those who haven't Wikipedia'd Abramoff allow us to give you a quick synopsis: Abramoff has been incarcerated since 2006; pleading guilty to defrauding various Indian casinos out of millions. He's also locked up for tax evasion and trading expensive gifts, meals and sports trips in exchange for political favors. Abramoff will be released on December 4, 2010.
A documentary was already released on him a couple of months ago called "Casino Jack and the United States of Money," focusing on the con man and how he swindled and bribed those foolish enough to associate with him.
As for the film, it's going to be called "Bagman" and will be starring Kevin Spacey as the locked up con man. There are currently no details on the film other than it being described as the bio of Abramoff.
But considering this is a Hollywood production we assume there will be mountains of money being passed around, expensive cars, houses and private jets -- the good things in life -- until Abramoff goes too far and the feds start to investigate him and all his illegal transactions. You know, standard Hollywood stuff. Regardless of how redundant it may be we doubt we'll miss it when it's released in October.
