The news may say otherwise but we've got it pretty good this millennium. OK, having a recession sucks but the technological advances we've made since we were using tape cassettes is astounding. The best addition, of course, is the internet.

With the internet today we no longer have to go to the mall to shop, go to libraries to read or go to a casino to make money. Everything is online, even people visiting Vancouver for the 2010 Winter Olympics can get their game on, shop and read in various hot spots around the city.

The hard part is knowing where those hot spots are. Don't fret, we've got the best internet hot spots in Van City in case you want to enjoy some casino gaming before the next Olympic event.

Any Starbucks

Let's knock out the easy one in case you didn't know. There's a reason why people are always chilling at Starbucks with their coffee and laptop -- free internet! You'd be hard pressed to find any Starbucks in downtown Vancouver or Whistler that won't give you internet access, so sit back grab yourself a Venti Skim Chai and play online blackjack until the rain goes away.

Steamworks Brewery

Coolest part about Olympics? The beer gardens. Van City is currently sporting a beer garden representing every major country competing in the Winter Olympics and the Germans are holding down a huge tent next to what used to be a restaurant called Steamworks. Supposedly the “German House” has huge lines but Steamworks at least has free WiFi for anyone smart enough to use it.

Best Western Sands

If you're looking for a hotel we suggest the Best Western Sands. Located on Davie Street you'll be right in the heart of downtown close to Granville, where everyone has been partying during the Olympics, and you'll have access to free WiFi whenever you need a quick spin of roulette.

Yodel - Whistler

If you're one of the lucky people who secured a spot in Whistler during these games, then you'll be lucky enough to have access to the town's free WiFi. We're not quite sure how far the connection goes, but catch wind of it and you'll have plenty of time to play craps while waiting for a postponed event to start up again.
