Prof Says Online Games Make You Smart

"Stop playing those video games!" That's what parents everywhere have been telling their kids for years, right? Of course they would and why wouldn't they? Unless you plan on being a "pro gamer" (which is very unlikely and doesn't pay much anyway) playing online games excessively won't even help you become a game designer, you need to get off the couch and go to school for that.
But according to Rolf Nelson, a psychology professor at Wheaton College in Norton, Mass., who studies human visual perception, games can actually make you smarter. Take that mom and dad.
"People who played the action video game did tasks faster, but at the cost of being less accurate," Nelson says. "Those who played the strategy game did things more accurately, but more slowly."
Since we are an
online casino gaming site the question is how much does it help online gaming? Will the results end up the same if you
play blackjack for hours? The answer should be yes.
Online casino gaming would fall under the strategy category -- although there is an element of action in every game because of the roller coaster ride it can play on your heart.
Blackjack has a complete chart to teach players how to play it properly, Let 'Em Ride makes you think ahead on whether your hand is strong enough to risk more money, and Video Poker is a variation of one of the most strategic card games you'll ever play. Obviously there's more than these games, all
casino games are strategic in some way.
So what does this mean for online casino gamers? Nelson's study showed that students who have just played an action video game before class are less patient but faster in their interactions, while those who have played a puzzle game show a slower but more accurate mode of interaction.
So for casino gaming it could be summarized that playing some blackjack before a tough, focused day at the office may help more than harm, even when you don't make massive amounts of money.
