Casino Hotties: Does Sex Sell in Online Casinos?
by Bodog Casino | Jan 13 2010
Sex sells in TV and film. Do a little channel surfing and you'll see that it's everywhere on the "boob tube." TV and film execs know to put at least one hot chick (preferably a dumb one) on every reality show. They know that in order to create a pop superstar your looks have to match your talent - and sometimes you just need looks (ahem, Britney Spears).
Hell, if they could, every film biography would feature Brad Pitt or Johnny Depp, no matter what the real person looked like.
Ads are the same. That's why every hottie in Hollywood has done an ad for perfume or a pair of jeans. But what about
online casinos? Is it necessary to show a little leg in order to entice players to play and enjoy blackjack? Not completely, but like everything else in life, a little hotness helps.
That's why today casinos always have a hot chick or dapper dude playing some cards in casino ads. It's not just to give players cheep thrills, it's to attract players to play. Whether we like it or not a "hottie" gets our attention. Guys and gals could walk into oncoming traffic if someone hot enough catches their eye.
Bodog for a time had its own "Bodog Girls" to show off its enterprise via monthly photo shoots, did they help gamers win or lose more money? No. But did they attract attention while being a fun distraction from a good or bad beat? You bet they were. There's nothing wrong with a little eye candy to get your mind off you troubles for a minute.
And don't think this it's only guys who are checking out girls and vice versa. For instance, sometimes a guy who looks attractive and professional can catch a heterosexual male's eye; giving him a glimpse of what's possible with a successful online gaming career. The same goes for ladies, they may see a beautiful, confident female in a photo taking on male
poker players and want to pick up and play herself.
Just like sports puts athletes faces next to shoes and Gatorade to sell an image (power and determination), online casinos put hot ladies and gents on their website to sell an image of... well, Vegas. And if you think that's exaggerating head down to Sin City once in a while and you'll agree that if you're gaming successfully the image is accurate.
