Bodog's Best of Vegas Part X: Best Nightclubs

by Jake Gosselin | Jan 23 2007

The gambling and the shows are only a slice of what attracts tourists by the millions to Las Vegas each year. It’s Vegas’ reputation as a modern Gomorrah that really sets it apart from other destination choices. Being known as Sin City is not something that Vegas has shied away from either, as Tourism Las Vegas has spent a great deal of money on the “What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas” promotion; a marketing campaign centered around sanitizing adultery, as long as it’s done in Las Vegas.

Vegas sells the promise of dreams coming true whether they be striking it rich at the tables or stumbling your way into an orgy of underage, Taiwanese midgets; Sin City holds itself up as an island separated from the common morality.

So for those who are looking to put the “sin” back into their Sin City experience, Bodog Nation has provided a list of some of the finest dens of debauchery in Las Vegas.

PURE

Despite being a massive space, Caesars Palace's Pure consistently generates a massive crowd that is good if you get in and not so good if you’re stuck standing in line.

With 36,000 feet, two stories and three distinct environments, Pure has cast the net wide for patrons and caters to many different tastes.

The White Room is decorated in shades of ivory and silver. It consists of a large dance floor surrounded by oversized bed seating, a raised VIP area and three bars.

The Red Room is a lush environment decorated in various shades of red, drapes, chandeliers and upholstered walls. It is secluded from the main club and offers its own bar, VIP restrooms and very secluded booths.

The 14,000-square-foot terrace can be reached by the glass elevator, which offers an outstanding view of The Strip. The terrace has an oval dance floor, private cabanas and tables, and is a great place to get a look at the rest of Vegas enjoying the nightlife.

Music: Two rooms of music featuring hip-hop, R&B and reggae.

Hours of operation: Wednesday - Sunday from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Price information: General admission (Wednesday, Thursday, Sunday): $20 General admission (Friday - Saturday): $30 Front of the Line (Friday-Saturday, includes admission): $50

JET

Jet is 15,000-square-foot ultra-modern, multi-level nightclub environment set in the Mirage hotel.

Jet boasts unparalleled state-of-the-art technology for the sound system as well as the lights and lasers used to create a cutting-edge atmosphere. With three different dance floors playing different music providing alternate types of atmosphere, Jet aims and succeeds in providing something for everyone.

With four bars and bottle service available, there should never be a dry throat in the house.

Music: Main room: rock, hip-hop and popular dance music; house music in a second room, and eclectic mixes in the third.

Hours of operation: Friday, Saturday and Monday, 10:30 p.m. - 4:30 a.m.

Price information: General admission: $20 for women and $30 for men. Jump the line with cost of admission: $40 (women), $50 (men).

TAO

For a Vegas nightclub 10,000-square-feet isn’t too big. But what the Venetian’s Tao lacks in size it makes up for in style and sophistication. Yes, ladies, good things can come in smaller packages…

The Tao nightclub is part of the Tao entertainment complex, which also includes a restaurant, banquet facilities and ultra lounge, all decorated with an Asian/Buddhist theme.

One of the most enticing aspects of the nightclub is its connection with the Tao restaurant, one of the finest in Las Vegas. If you’re looking to avoid the hassle of eating in one place and then partying in another, Tao has you covered. Dine at the restaurant and you will bypass the line when the time comes to head upstairs to the nightclub.

The nightclub is composed of two rooms - The Temple and The Emperor's Ballroom - with different musical formats. There are eight private sky boxes equipped with mini bars, espresso machines and banquettes featuring secure purse drawers.

Music: House, hip-hop and R&B.

Hours of operation: Tuesday, 12 a.m. - 5 a.m. Wednesday - Saturday, 10:30 p.m. - 5:30 a.m.

Price information: General admission: Thursday-Saturday: $20 ($40 for front of the line admission); Wednesday: FreeFront of the line pass (women). Front of the line pass (couples - two women or one woman and one man): $60 Thursday, $80 Friday, $100 Saturday.

OPM

OPM sits atop Chinois, Wolfgang Puck's Cantonese restaurant in Caesars Palace. OPM struck gold with its Thursday evening ladies' night, which has expanded into a full-blown "Bi-Girl Party," where bisexual women and the men who hope to get “doubly lucky” dance the night away. Friday night is a champagne party where ladies enjoy free champagne until midnight.

OPM's dance floor is great for those who like their space while they groove.  Open and spacious, you’re not going to feel like you’re trapped in a mosh pit here. If you do tire of the dancing scene you can escape to a balcony that overlooks the Forum Shops, or a VIP room where karaoke is king.

Music: Two rooms of music featuring hip-hop, R&B and reggae.

Hours of operation: Wednesday - Sunday from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Price information: General admission (Wednesday, Thursday, Sunday): $20 General admission (Friday - Saturday): $30 Front of the Line (Friday - Saturday, includes admission): $50

 LIGHT

Only after patrons take an escalator and walk down a candle-lit, mirrored hallway, do they reach the rich woods, intimate deep-red drapery that garnishes Light. Modeled on the New York nightclub of the same name, the Bellagio’s Light offers party-goers 9,000 square feet of mystery and European elegance.

With tables that are reserved for bottle-service only, Light has two full-service bars to accommodate guests who are just in it for a drink or two. With cocktail waitresses in evening gowns and more conservatively dressed go-go dancers, Light caters to a sophisticated crowd while house music and hip-hop lends for an energetic vibe.

Music: A mix of hip-hop and techno.

Hours of operation: Thursday - Sunday, 10:30 p.m. - 4 a.m.

Price information: General admission: $30; Front of line: $50. Local ladies are always free. Local men are free Thursday and Sunday.
